Wednesday, August 25, 2010: The Empowerment Group presents their annual “Success in the City” event. Listen to a group of female panelists including Sarah Van Aken, owner of SA VA, as they lead a discussion and offer advice about their personal achievements in entrepreneurship and business. The event will take place from 6-8pm and the Jeanne Ruddy Dance Co. Performance Garage at 1515 Brandywine Street, Philadelphia, PA.

Tuesday, September 28, 2010: Philadelphia Phashion Phest SA VA will showcase 5 looks with the Rittenhouse Row runway show. Show location is at 12th Street between Arch & Race Sts. Under the tunnel at the Convention Center. Timing and more details tba.

Wednesday, September 29, 2010: Rittenhouse Row Fall Festival. SA VA will participate in the annual Rittenhouse Row trend fashion show. 6-9p.m. At the Comcast Center.

Thursday, September 30, 2010: SA VA: Honest Denim Launch Party sponsored by Philadelphia Collection 2010. 6-8p.m. at SA VA 1700 Sansom Street. SA VA is launching our new denim line; 3 exclusive styles of jeans made in our Philadelphia Garment Center with U.S. Cotton Denim and washed with the lowest impact washing techniques. Surprise giveaway at the event!

Thursday, October 7th, 2010: Sustainable Textile Design and Manufacturing in Philadelphia: Expert Panel including Sarah Van Aken, owner of SA VA, presented by the Sustainable Business Network and DesignPhiladelphia. From 6-8pm, hear local favorites in the Philadelphia textile and accessory industries discuss the challenges and advantages of incorporating sustainable, organic and fair trade practices into their work. Learn what the City is doing to heighten visibility for designers who choose to create and manufacture in Philadelphia and find out what local buyers are looking for when stocking their shelves with eco-chic items. This is a must-attend event for anyone interested in designing, making and buying sustainable threads.

Wednesday, October 13, 2010: SA VA Native Gypsy: Fall Fashion Show & Community Street Fair. On Sansom Street between 17th & 18th street. The event is part of Design Philadelphia and will showcase our fall collection. Event and fundraiser details to follow. Event is open to the public.

Thursday, October 14, 2010: Sustainable Business Network and Philadelphia Fashion Week presents a Buyer to Designer Networking Event. Join hostess Sarah Van Aken of SA VA for an evening of mingling with sustainable designers and eco-conscious buyers. Connect with like-minded business professionals and discover new trends in the “Slow Fashion” industry. More details including time and ticket price to follow.

Friday, November 5-11, 2010: Clothing Drive to benefit The Career Wardrobe. Stop at SA VA this week to donate clothing to The Career Wardrobe, one of our partner organizations that helps women transition into the workforce by providing professional attire and innovative educational programs. We will be collecting separates, including trousers, skirts, blouses blazers and “casual Friday” outfits.

Friday, November 12-19, 2010: Food Drive to benefit People’s Emergency Center. This week at SA VA we will be collecting donations of canned goods to benefit our partner organization, People’s Emergency Center. PECprovides comprehensive supportive services to homeless women and their children. Special discount for donations to be announced.
