Our design aesthetic
At SA VA, design combines effortless style with personal imprint. Our clothes are evocative, versatile, urban, sensual, impulsive, and irresistible. Our look is ever-changing. It derives from the interaction between our design sensibilities and our customers' sense of style.
If we were to create a recipe of a SA VA signature look, it might look something like this:

- 1 part street smart
- 1 part ease and drape
- 1 part tailoring and fit
- 1 part daring, evocative details
- 1 part mysterious
- a pinch of trend and vintage
- a dash of bohemian and drama
Color is everything.
Red is our signature color because it is vibrant, sensual, historic, and goes with everything. It represents the SA VA woman. We choose basic colors like gray, black, brown and white to create a foundation and use bolder colors to punch up the collection. We assume every garment could be red.
SA VA uses color boldly in non-traditional formats and combinations to enhance design and push the envelope. We believe in warm, strong statement colors that quietly evoke and suggest all that inspires us. We take inspiration from art, music, distant cultures, urban living, politics, and different time periods---from the world at large and from our customers.
Style is individual.
We create special pieces that will complement our customers' existing wardrobes. Our clothes, though distinctive, are versatile enough in style to accompany many different looks. We love breaking the rules and encourage a sense of fun and experimentation in our design and how our clothing may be mixed and matched to present varying points of view. We also have garments for many different moods, occasions, and seasons.
Our expert stylists are also available to assist customers with signature looks. Because we believe that style is individually expressed by our customers, we provide an outlet for customers to style themselves or be styled through interactive games and tools at the store and on the website. We also provide ways in our Studios and on the internet for customers to collaborate in the design process.
Different body types, flattering fit
SA VA believes that any garment you purchase should fit and flatter your body. We like to strike a balance between cut and silhouette so that women look great in their clothes. We choose fabrics that forgive and stretch. We design styles that are cut on the bias and have drape, as well as clothes that are tailored and fitted close to the body.
We vary our shape and proportion in our styles and how we pair things. SA VA designs for multiple body types. We have multiple fittings on ourselves, on dress forms, as well as on different models to test fit. We create sensible styles for real women's bodies.
By adjusting the proportion (waistline, hemlines, necklines, etc) we create garments that fit specific body types. There are certain shapes that are universal and others that we create specifically for one body type or another. Not all garments are made to fit everyone, but everyone can find something to fit and flatter her at SA VA.
Quality at moderate prices
We are committed to making clothes women feel great wearing by using fabrics from the finest textile mills. Often made with natural fibers, all of the fabrics we choose have the most sumptuous finishes. Our fabrics feel luxurious and expensive even if they are not.
Clothes should be special and fresh, but they should also be easy to wear without fuss. Making constant adjustments to clothing while wearing them is not just unflattering, it's also constraining. Our clothes have the proper amount of ease, with an effortless, flattering fit, so that our customers will not feel restricted.
